a message from Nicky

I am continuing my studio work during the general shutdown, working on ongoing projects, and will be designing some exhibition pieces as well.

Sadly, I have of course had to cancel my Spring courses, but will look forward to resuming these as soon as possible.

In the meantime, there will be plenty of time for thinking and planning, so customers needing to commission new work in the next year or so, do please get in touch, preferably by email / website contact form in the first instance. There is no obligation at this stage.

Best wishes to you in these anxious times and stay safe.

My name is Nicola Hopwood and I design and make contemporary stained glass windows, for public and private buildings and churches, in my studio near Hay-on-Wye, on the English / Welsh border. I also run stained glass Courses, which are held in the nearby village of Brilley, in the beautiful countryside where Herefordshire meets Wales. These workshops are suitable for complete beginners, as well as those with previous experience in this lovely medium.

Using the finest traditional materials, I work to Commission in flowing styles and rich, natural colour, aiming to produce works which are sympathetic to each building and its function. Exploring themes and ideas with the commissioners and users of a building is an enjoyable and important part of the consultation; this dialogue is a key factor in all my work.

Go to the Gallery page to see examples of my work in various locations around the country, and Contact me if you would like to commission work or attend a course.

..and, check the News page for information about new courses, events and anything else that’s happening.
